East from Kingman, US-93 follows I-40 for over 20 miles before turning south again, but parallel to the freeway a well-marked 14-mile road leads up from the desert to Hualapai Mountain Park, where pines and firs cover the comparatively cool slopes of the 8,417-foot peak. Hiking trails wind through the wilderness, and there’s a campground and a few rustic cabins built by the CCC during the New Deal 1930s.
